OTHER LAW FIRMS:

The biggest problem people have in hiring an attorney is that 1) they don’t know who to hire and 2) they don’t know who to trust.  Generally speaking, the first place a person goes to find an attorney is the phone book.  Its where a lot of us go to find things.  Increasingly, people are turning to the Internet to find the services they need and since you are here reading this, We are personally happy that you found us on the Internet.

But still, what do you see in these phone book ads and craigslist posts or even on the websites of attorneys?

“Aggressive Experienced Attorney to Protect Your Rights”

…or some such quote or expression.  We have even seen attorneys advertise on TV with catchy slogans talking about when you want your check and “why hire a half a lawyer?”  Don’t get us started on the wolfs, the eagles, the care bears (or maybe it’s a bulldog with a heart on its chest), the cartoon TV commercials showcasing attorneys that appear more like club bouncers than legal professionals.  It is almost as bad as the slick advertising of the insurance companies – a gecko, a character named “Mayhem”, or even a cartoon girl selling auto insurance online…

What works for an insurance company is one thing – but in the legal profession, we aren’t merely selling an idea.  We are selling a service that only a select few people can…legal knowledge and skill in handing cases that affect your legal rights.

And that is pretty important to us.

WHO WE ARE:

How about instead of “aggressive” and “experienced,” an attorney shares his knowledge about personal injury claims and helps clients and potential clients understand how personal injury claims work.  How about an attorney who provides information about how insurance works and things you should know about hiring an attorney, all before you meet this attorney.  How about an attorney who is truly experienced?  Say, for example, an attorney who worked for an insurance company defending the insureds from personal injury lawsuits, working and learning first hand from insurance adjusters.  Learning first hand how an insurance company values a claim, how they look at medical expenses, and how they value claims from people who are unrepresented; that is, people who did not hire an attorney (I’ll let you in on a secret…it does not go well for people without an attorney).  How about an attorney who has, along with defending personal injury lawsuits, has also represented numerous clients who have been hurt by other people’s negligence.  Learning first hand from the clients how accident injuries impact their lives, how hard it is for them to recover financially from serious accidents, and the day to day struggles they have recovering from their injuries?

It’s the ability to handle personal injury claims from both perspectives that gives our firm the edge over other personal injury law firms who lack an understanding of these claims from both sides.  It’s how we best contribute to your case, how we help you get a fair settlement for your injuries, and how we prosecute your claim in the courtroom.

Does this mean we lack the aggressive quality all these other firms?  Does this mean we lack the ability to help our clients reach fair settlements for their injuries?

THE DIFFERENCE:

The short answer is no.  The long answer is it isn’t just that we have lower fees and that we provide exceptional service that other firms don’t provide.  But it’s about attorneys who understand what our clients are going through and attorneys who want to seek the best possible recovery for your injuries.  You will see this expression a lot on our website: “We are not a settlement mill.”  Settlement mills are usually the large law firms who rely on volume of business to ensure that they make a profit no matter what type of case they take or no matter what type of case they turn away.  What is troubling to us about these firms is that they seem to put an emphasis on their bottom line as a business while only focusing on the easy part of your case – the potential settlement.  In fact, many of these firms will drop your case if the settlement offers are not good or if your case poses potential problems if it were to be litigated.

While it is true that not every personal injury case can or should be litigated, the whole reason you hire an attorney in the first place is to help you resolve the hard cases.  Not everyone needs an attorney to represent them and sometimes a case is small enough and simple enough for you to represent yourself.  These cases typically only focus on property damage.  But where you have medical expenses and even where you have long term medical care and ongoing injuries you are dealing with, you do need an attorney who will control the dynamics of your case and put forth the best version of your accident to begin to negotiate the best possible resolution of your case.

But we don’t stop there.  We take pride in the representation of our clients.  We will advise you every step of the way, we will provide honest evaluation and give your our best professional advice about when it is better to settle a case versus litigating a case.  If we think that litigation is the next step toward resolving your claims, we will handle that litigation and stand by our clients all the way until the end of  their case.  We will not cut and run because a case looks like it will affect our bottom line.
